  1. Nope ! You drove to get the food , all there doing is bringing it out of the kitchen for you.

If people start tipping for that let me know , my husband will owe me alot of Tips, for making his plate an bringing it to him  !

  2. no way!!!!!

  3. Not to go orders

  4. no i wouldnt they just did their job why tip them

  5. no

  6. i wouldnt they arent going out of thier way to serve you.

  7. Contrary to all the previous answers is that you ARE supposed to tip when you get carryout.  The standard rate is 10%.  The server or bartender had to put your order together, ring it up, run the credit card etc. and take time away from other customers who would be tipping him or her.

  8. Wow you all never cease to amaze me. Waaa. I drove there, waaa they didnt go out of their way, waaa its not like im taking up space.  All of you are cheap and i would say so much more but I like this site.  Tip for the love of all that is good an wholesome.  Next time you go get a pick up throw the person five bucks. cheap cheap cheap. not only do we tip out but every time we swipe your cheap A##'s card, we the employee get charged around 25 cents to a dollar. Dont tip suck it

  9. You should only tip if you have a drink at the bar.  No tip for takeout.

  10. I do not think you should tip.  Where I live it is legal to smoke in bars, and I feel violated if I have to stand there 10 minutes while they get my food ready (when it should've been ready anyway).

  11. At my restaurant, when you call in a to-go order, the Hostess writes down the order, she carries it to the bartender, the bartender orders the food.

You now come in, to pick up the food, the hostess sends you to the bar, they have your to-go order all ready... the food line expediter has packed everything up, and double checked your order for everything.

    Do you tip....I say no!

If you tip, the bartender gets the tip, food expo, no...The hostess, no...the cooks,,,no...

Keep it simple, call in an occasional food to go order, if you do this 1/2 times a week, consider coming in to the restaurant, and getting to know, all involved,

  12. Not only did they have to take the time to ring you up (this isn't much time), some restaurants have unfair policies regarding tipping.  I was a bartender at a bar/restaurant and they had it set up so that I had to ring in all of the takeout orders under my name.  This meant that it brought up my sales average considerably; I had to pay 10% to the bussers on ALL of my sales, which means that every time someone got takeout, I lost whatever 10% of their order was from my tips, as well as having to claim more money to the government for taxes than I was actually walking out the door with. The restaurant claimed 12% of my sales every night....sometimes my sales were nearly 50% untipped takeout orders...so not only was I paying off the busboys with tips I did not recieve, I was paying taxes on non-existant tips as well. You don't have to tip because the restaurant's policies aren't your fault, but it's a considerate thing to do, knowing that it's possible the person who's ringing you up may actually be losing money out of their pocket just because you ordered the food.

  13. no..

  14. not if i have to go inside to get it, but if they have the "curbside to go" where someone brings it out to your car, i do, because the person that brings it out, has to gather up your condiiments, , bag it up, and bring it out, just like an inside server would have to bring your meal to you, but i only tip them about $5.00

but, back to your question, i have to ask you now, would you tip the drive thru at mcdonalds?
