  1. The DVD needs to be either "all regions" or "region 2" - Europe


  2. Not necessarily.

    I have bought DVDs from the U.S.A., Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil, China, Australia and Russia.  They all play fine.

    I do have a Region free DVD player, though.
