If i pay tax on a lot of clothing I bought in california and im from canada, can i get the tax i paid back?

I'm going to california to shop a bit and I know i have to pay the sales tax, but I heard from a friend that I can pay it, keep the reciets and apply to get all the tax i paid to the state back here in canada. I need answers to if this is true or what the deal is with canada/us tax relations that way

No, your friend isn't correct.  The USA doesn't have a VAT, and the sales taxes from the various taxing authorities is not refundable.
