i was chipping away at the ice that had accumulated around my freezer, when i accidentally poked a hole in the bottom of it. some "gas" escaped, and i was able to close the hole with some epoxy, but i'm wondering if i will need a new refrigerator?

  1. I know a man that did same thing. He patched hole with epoxy then had it recharged with freon and it lasted for years.

  2. you probably do need a new freezer. But how is it working now???

  3. did you poke it all the way through the freezer, if so then you need a new freezer

  4. First if you made a huge poke and gas escaped, you will need to spend in get it fix or weld and get more freon on it. Versus buying a new one. Consider the prize of getting it fix and buying a new one. If you try putting epoxy the unit must be completely dry before putting it. Also the chances of getting some one to dump freon on the freezer are low since it has a hole where the freon cold escape. I would reccomend it to buy a new one.
