  1. A ming aralia does NOT like to dry out.  So, water it often enough so that the top surface of the soil feels a little damp, like a kitchen sponge that has been wrung out.  Not so wet that if you pressed the sponge, water would come out.  If you let the top of the soil surface get dry between waterings, your aralia will eventually start dropping leaves.  It should be in a pot that has drainage holes in the bottom so that it doesn't stay soggy all the time.

So, if you put decorative moss on the soil, it will help slow down how much water is lost to evaporation.  But be careful, because since you can't see the soil surface, it is easy to forget to water often enough.  Make sure that you check the surface of the soil, underneath the moss, frequently so you know when it's time to water again.
