Question:

If i put my iron on polyester carpet and it burned onto the iron, is there a way i can get it off of the iron?

its like black and melted onto the iron and i want to get it off so it doesnt remelt when i turn it on and get onto clothes

  1. Rowenta makes an iron cleaner that retails for around 9.99.  I buy mine from Target or Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  It works wonders on cleaning up all sorts of messes from irons and does not harm the iron in any way (unlike steel wool or scraping might).  


  2. Plastic gets on the iron also, but the best way to get it off the iron is to re-heat and scrap it off with a metal scrapper. You might have to also use some SOS/Brillo wet pads after when the iron is cooled off. If you got one with Teflon black then you'll have to use heat resistant spatula to scrap it off.  

  3. Steel wool is the best and quickest however if is has a teflon coating try a light turpentine soaking and using a nylon scourer.

  4. Turn the iron on, melt the polyester, and scrape it off with a single-edge razor blade. Then use steel wool pad to get the rest off. NOTE: NEVER IRON POLYESTER AGAIN!!!!!!!

  5. Urr- shouldn't you be more concerned about the burnt carpet?
