  1. this bird will most likely not get you sick. It's not like it's wild so it will not likely carry a sickness. Over all you should be fine

  2. Parrots are very intelligent and require stimulation. If you're going to leave it stuck in one room all day with no one talking to it it will get bored and pull it's feathers out. Don't get a parrot, if you absolutely must get a bird get a pair of budgies. Birds, like all animals, can carry diseases but if you get it from a pet shop or reputable breeder, and care for it properly, you'll be fine.

  3. Pet birds can get sick, but usually not with the deadly diseases they spread in the wild. Usually, it will not get you sick.

  4. no u wont get sick

just keep on feeding it ok..

  5. NO! unless your bird has something (which i presume that u have had it vet checked), and u wash your hands, u will not become sick. i have a parrot that lives in my room as well and no he has never made me sick. leaving the window open however is neither nescessary nor smart. proper cage cleaning and disinfecting will help get rid of any smells that may occur and bathing is essential. the winodw being open may seem like a way to get bad things out however this is only hurting him. parrots need a constant temperature or they become sick, and they will do this what seems like very suddenly, sincethey are prey animals they will hide any signs of weakness until they are in dire need of attention. also give him a bath. most parrots love baths and water, there are several ways to do this mine prefers going into the shower with me and as long as the water isn't to hot thn he's just fine. u can also try a bird bath(my brother uses this method), or even spray bottles(i've never used this one but have heard bout it and also u must pe very careful when using this method not to scare him). be sure to dry him afterward using a towel, mine has decided that he no longer likes the towel, so he air dries in a warm temp, but i would recomend a towel if possible. these things should keep any sickness away from u and your bird, hope this was heplful.

  6. Why not a set of Cortunix Quail?  They are beautiful little birds which are tested as poultry is in the states.  They live a max of 2-3 years  and are clean (also edible) birds.  If mom and dad or you get sick of them, name them breakfast and lunch and use them as such.  Even better is to hatch your own little babies so you can be a true parent and control any disease.  Hatching eggs and hatching equipment is available on eBay!

Pet birds can make people sick!  Get paperwork showing the birds or its parents are tested for Avian flu, Typhoid etc.  A reputable dealer will have this....  If you buy eggs, get test results on the eggs parents.  Zip the egg seller an email asking about testing...

Good luck on your endeavor!  Birds are fun.  Be safe.

  7. If the bird is not sick, doesn't have allergies, and is well-groomed (misted regularly), then you probably won't get sick by keeping it in your room. But certain species, like budgies, cockatiels, African Greys and especially cockatoos, release a type of feather dust that CAN cause allergic reactions in some people. So consult with your doctor/allergist first.

  8. It won't make you sick if the bird is not sick.  There are a couple of diseases which are contagious to humans. Chlamydia, or Psittacosis is one, which is highly contagious to both birds and humans.  If and when you do get a bird, have it checked out by an avian vet for any illnesses or disease.  If it gets a clean bill of health then you are good to go.  Just make sure you research diet and care requirements for any bird you are thinking of and make sure it's the one you want.  Having a pet bird is a big commitment and it's diet and care are your responsibility.
