Ok I do do situps just not sure how many to do sources i've checked have said 200 some say 20. I have a stubborn layer of fat around my abdominals I weight train every morning. And I want my abs to finally show so I was wondering if the 5 miles before or after weight and ab time would finally make them show. I stopped drinking soda, and am only drinking orange juice and water, and eating fruit for the next 5 days.

  1. nope....sorry.... sit-ups help your abs.

  2. Whats your current weight?,running alone will not work, its a combo of a few factors,1.healty diet with ballance of protien and carbs.2.lots of excersise,i.e weight training and some running, but the diet is key,no fast food.get plenty of rest.no fast food.

  3. What kind of abs do you want?  I've noticed that training for half-marathons tends to give me slightly-defined abs, as opposed to my usual zero-defined (fl)abs.  But if you want to look like a body-builder, you'll probably have to... do some body-building?

  4. No. To get abs you need to work on your stomach, running will get your stomach slightly but works out your calves, thighs, etc. way more. Do crunches, sit ups, those may give you abs if you do them enough.

  5. no

  6. probably. 5 miles a day is probably burning about 1000 cals. unless u eat 4000 cals a day, you would definately be in a caloric deficit to lose fat. if u want abs u need to lose body fat. Ab work will definately build the muscle, but they'll never show if u have that layer of fat around the mid section. the numbers differ depending where u look them up but most say that abs wont show unless you're <10% bodyfat. of course everyone is different, so if you're 10% and not showing u may need to get down to 7 or 8%. run and eat a clean.

  7. Nope sorry....i wish it was that easy to! After you run you should do some hovers and sit ups and etc...that should help you get abs!

  8. Running by itself will do two things.  It will build your core strength to a degree.  And steady distance in zone 2 heart rate (able to have a conversation) will take excess fat from your abdominal area, which will then reveal what abs you have.

Click on the source link for some core strength exercises.  Those will increase your ab strength and looks.

    Good for you for running.

EDIT:  Don't take all the protein out of your diet.  Fruit and fruit juices are good, but they also contain larger amounts of sugar.  Remember to count those in your carbs.

You've got the right idea.  Keep going.

And try some basic yoga tapes.  Yoga will also help your core.
