  2. physically, if you dont want to lose weight (most football players dont) then kick up the conditioning training while focusing on Explosion drills only.  

    that means dont train for endurance, train for single quick and powerful motions.    If you cant afford to buy a training regimen then improvise

    the simplest solution is to do what you want to improve on as much as you can.   just sprint to a telephone pole, then walk to the next, then sprint then walk.

    and if you want to help your take off speed.  jump off a chair and bounce as high as you can instead of landing.  then get back on chair and jump off to bounce off the ground again.

    keep in mind this is not the most professional answer nor the most advanced.  But it will help tons if you train twice a day

  3. 5 flat isnt bad starting out, try going to youtube and watching nfl combine tapes and look at their form and how fast they get out of the blocks, its all about getting out of the blocks as quick as possible, taking long strides and keeping consistent.
