I saved a file using the program Autocad then i was shutting down the program and it asked me to save so i said yes but when i reopen the program and open the file it comes up as a blank page. I think i might have saved a blank page over it. Can i get the original back.

  1. No, you can get it back!

    Try this free program http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATI...

You can restore any deleted program even if was overwritten or shift key was pressed during deletion

  2. Hi,

If you have set Autocad to autosave your work, then you may have a previous version on your hard drive.  I guess the first thing you need to do is to check if the autosave is on.  Go to the options pop up, there you will see a section headed 'file safety precautions' if the automatic save box is ticked then you will have a copy saved.  To find out the save path, type 'savefilepath' at the command prompt, this will tell you where the autosaves are - it also allows you to define where you would like them saved in the future.

A second option is to look for the BAK version of your drawing - when you save an Autocad file, the previous save is renamed as a BAK file.  If this exists, then you can change the BAK extension to DWG and open the file.  You may have lost a little information, but some of your work will be there.

    Hope this helps.

  3. No, sorry it's gone
