If i send a money order to Australia in U.S dollars can they cash it over there?

  1. No, they cannot.

    Money orders are not checks. They are issued by post offices in the currency of the country where they are bought, and they are generally for that country only.

    In Australia, we can only cash money orders issued by Australia Post, in Australian dollars.

  3. Unfortunately, U.S. Postal Service money orders are accepted in only a limited number of countries, not including Australia.

    For sending large amounts of money, an international wire transfer is most practical.  For more modest amounts of money, there are service like Moneygram (which is generally a $10 fee ... money available in a few minutes) or you could use a service such as iKobo which has a basic fee of $5 but which requires a card to be shipped requiring additional delay and expense.

    In either case, the money will be available in local currency.
