  1. I received many things while in Ha Noi. Magazines and CDs came through without problems - no taxes. It seems to me I did receive something that was taxed, but the charges were not outrageous - I don't remember the amount, so it had to have been insignificant.

Air freight and surface freight are options as well for larger items - though air freight might be rather expensive.

  2. I think it's better to ask the service office in UK, because depends on the country you want to send the parcel from, it may be different. However, when you send it, don't forget to give a detailed address and phone number.

With smt like a car, I'm not sure because according to the law, you must pay the import tax which is very high for the imported cars.

  3. Make sure what you send don't look like you send them to sell (clothes in every size and many same sets for instance). If they look like gifts, there won't be a problem. I sent clothes there in 2, 3 kg by EMS and they arrived safely but when I shipped 1 cubic meter of clothes 3 years ago, they were taxed 75%. Vietnam doesn't encourage imported clothes as they can produce clothes there.

For big items, see if you can ship them.

I live in a country near Vietnam. I don't know how much it'll cost you to ship. For me, it was about 120 USD per cubic meter.

However I guess the receiver being an orphanage will bear no tax on arrival.
