i think? i may have misunderstood..i read 'separate bananas to slow down the ripening process'. but i think what it meant is 'separate ' the banans from 'other' items. I am asking a 'different' question: is it possible to 'slow down' the ripening process if i tear apart the bananas from each other? or does that make the ripening process go faster? or no effect at all? huh?

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  2. The only way to slow the ripening process of bananas is to store them between 10-15°C and to take care that the amount of ethylene near them is as small as possible, that means not together with a ripe apple in a closed container f.e.

If you buy three bananas and keep one in the kitchen, the next one in the living-room and the last one in the hall, the amount of ethylene might be a very little bit smaller as if you store them all together, but it will not have a significant effect on ripening process.

If you store them in the fridge ( about 6 °C ), the ripening process is slowed better, but the skin will become black and the fruit looses taste
