Question:

If i suspect my old hamster had wet tail. Is my cage he used ok?

Like can the diease spread through the Cage? If it is spread through the cage how can i dsinfect it?

Or should i buy a new cage.

  1. Clean it with bleach water that will kill any bad germs that might be hanging around! Be sure to let it air dry for a while too!


  2. clean it real good with bleach and water and dry it real good so it wont rust and then you can prepare it for your new pet

  3. I don't know about wet tail because I had rats, but I would bleach it to kill all of the germs!!!    If you are expecting to put animals in the cage after you clean it I would maybe even get okay cleaner( It isn't as bad for the animals) I used it for my rats cage!!!

  4. my first hammie died of wet tail(in loving memory of hobbes-august 29th 2007) and when he died i just cleaned the whole cage as well as i could with dishsoap. make sure none of the old hamsters poopie or bedding or food or water is ANYWHERE on the cage. the food dish and water bottle are the two things u will wanna clean out the best. after r done fill it with new bedding and it should be fine. my new hamster hasnt had wet tail, so im sure this method will work for u. hope it helped!!!! good luck :)
