If i switch from Home school to public school will i still be in the same grade?

The home school i go to is accredited and everything and i am a senior this year so would i still be a senior in public school?

I live in Texas.

it depends on the kind of school you go to if you are going in to a school that is a special kind of school, like schools that have different shops in them every other week you might have to start at 9th grade (like my brother does he had to go back to 9th grade, because it was one of these kinds of schools, so he can get the full 4 years of the shop)

yh.. if you skipped grades, you may have to take tests to prove you know the stuff you're supposed to.

If you skipped a few grades in home school then no you wont be in the same grade as you are now in homeschooling.

In Alberta and BC in Canada, they are placed int their age group, regardless of their academic achievements.

Only the school in question can tell you that. Since there is no public school online program in Texas, then whatever you did does not necessarily match up with the public school curriculum. They get to decide if they will count your work or not. They can reject ALL of your high school work and have you start high school all over if they feel that what you did doesn't match up with their curriculum. That you were part of some accredited program does NOT mean that you learned the same things the public schooled high school kids in Texas did.

ADDED: Just a clarification for Alberta--if you are in elementary or jr. high, you are placed with your same age peers. If you are in high school, you may have a "grade level" but courses aren't tied to grade level--that is, you can be in grade 12 and have only grade 10 courses. You could challenge a course with permission and get credit for some previous courses, but you don't automatically end up in grade 12 courses if you switch from homeschooling to public school in gr. 12.

You should have to take an assessment test. It will see where you are and if you know whats required to be a senior.

My friend was homeschooled in tenth grade and when she went back to a public school they still put her in the tenth grade.

I'm going to guess probably not.  It depends on the school you intend to enroll in.  They may or may not accept the transcript provided, regardless where it comes from.  They will probably administer some sort of test.  They might even make you take a test for English I, English II, and English III (9th, 10th, 11th grade English), Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry (or whatever other highschool maths your transcript shows you have taken already), Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry (or whatever other sciences your transcript shows you have taken), as well as every single social studies course your transcript shows you have taken -- BEFORE they decide whether to grant you credit toward graduation.  Not to mention any elective courses your transcript shows.  I don't know about Texas, but in my state, NO "other" schools are accepted -- accredited program or not -- except for public and state-accredited private (such as parochial) schools.

When our children went back into the school system, they tested a year and a half ahead of their peers, but were placed with their peers.  This was in Alberta, Canada and Ontario, Canada.
