If i take a picture of a person committing a crime, then use that picture to blackmail them would that be ok?

Anything you want to do with your pictures is OK.  Some people might say it's immoral and others will called illegal.

In any case, blackmail is illegal whatever the case might be.  Plus, if they already committed a crime why not continue and get you a gravestone with a 'Photographer turned blackmailer'

Play it safe and turn it to the cops and since you still own the pictures, sell them to news papers

So lemme get this straight....

You have a photo of a crime in progress with clear evidence of who is committing the crime....

You want to use that photo to commit another crime (ie blackmail is illegal)

And since you will be committing a crime I must make the conclusion your not going to report that crime hence committing yet another crime.... (not reporting a crime is a crime in itself and if found out can cost you jail time)
