I attempt suicide 2 months ago about and after i was released from the psychiatric hospital i was assigned to a local MHMR. There, i had a case worker assigned to me and a psychiatrist. My next visit with him is October 13'th. If i were to tell him that i dont take the medication, can he put me back in a psychiatric hospital?

Im asking because i know if you voluntarily go to apsychiatrist, its up to you whether u take them or not, but since i attempted suicide and was forced to a psychiatric hospital before, can he force me into one if i tell him i dont take the medicine?

  1. I do not know about the forced treatment.  There is a law called Kendra's law that is about forced treatment.  It did not pass in my state NM.

I do know that doctors can work with a person to find a medication that works for them and that they can tolerate.  I would just work with your doctor and try to get in sooner if you can.  I really believe in medication.  It has saved my life.  My father would not take his medication and he killed himself.

  2. No he cannot. Not taking your medicine is your choice and he can't do anything about that.

  3. hey honey, if u attempted suicide, and u were admited before it is nothing to do with this one now! they will see if this not taking drug will affect your behavior or not, if u can control urself, so u don't need them, as far as i know... they can not force you to take them or take you to the hospital if you donn harm yourself or anybody else... so, it all depends on you behavior... good luck

if you donn like your medicine tell your doctor, he will change it, or understand it... i donno, but he/she should know you r not comfortable with the treatment...

  4. He can probably force you back there but it depends because he has to have the authority to be able to do it. But if he does then he can force you to go to the psychiatric hospital. Sorry if you do go back there though.

  5. I don't know where you live, Gabe, but my answer is very different.  (I don't know what a MHMR is.)  Here in Kentucky, the U.S., anyone can involuntarily hospitalize any person who is a clear danger to themselves or others for 48 hours.  All it takes is a decision by a judge or doctor.

You have a very serious illness.  I don't think you have given the meds enough time to work.  You MUST take your meds.  Meds have literally saved my life.  One of the symptoms of your disease is that you don't think you need meds.  I too loathe the mental hospital; but it can be necessary at times.  Please continue your treatment!
