If i update my Iphone to 2.0.1 version. Will My phone get erased?

I want to update my iphone, it saids that it will restore and backup my phone...i dont know what that means...im afraid that it will deleat all my contacts, songs, foto...etc..

It didn't remove anything from mine.  It backed up my entire phone, then updated, and restored from the backup.

It even kept my original background, movies, songs, contacts, notes, ect.

So no worries.  Plug it in and let 'er go.  Don't interrupt, as it may take a little while to backup and restore from backup depending on how much you currently have stored on your iPhone.
