  1. just social security #. Your birth certificate stays the same.

  2. HI, congratulations on your marriage.  You do not change the name on your birth certificate.  Just go to your Social Security office and complete the neccessary paperwork.  You will be issued a new SSN and you'll be good to go.  Keep in mind though that you will need to change everything else, too.  And just so you know, when you call to change your name on some things, like student loans, you may need to fax a copy of the license, at least I did.  It should be a relatively quick and easy process for you.

  3. No, of couse not.

  4. No, but you do have to post a notice in your local paper to see if anyone objects to your changing your name. I know a guy who objects all the time just to be annoying!

  5. No. But you do need to change your name on all your other ID. Go to http://www.namethatbride.com to get a list of all the places where you should submit a name change. You can also use the site to print out all the forms for free. Good luck!

  6. Never

  7. No, you don't have to. Just on your SS card like you said then change your license. Someone said you have to put a notice in the paper but in most states you don't have to do that when you are changing your name due to marriage. You only have to do that when you are changing your name for a reason other than marriage or divorce.

  8. You have to go into your nearest social security office to change your name.  You don't change it on your birth certificate, because that was not your name at birth.  Don't forget that you will have to change your license, passport, credit cards, bank accounts, etc.

  9. Oh please.

  10. No, the name on your birth certificate is original. It confirms who you are and your maiden name, if its changed the government will lose official track of you born name and the census.

  11. No you do not. The name on your birth certificate is your name that was legally given to you at the time you were born.

  12. ss card and at the DMV then its changed 8)

  13. wow no.your b.c is from when you are born....

  14. You cannot change it on your birth certificate.  that is a legal document.

When you get the court order changing your name (in many states it is the marriage certificate itself) that becomes your legal document as well.

Even if you change your name for personal reasons the birth certificate remains the same.
