  1. Technically, no, you don't need a TV as well.

BUT, be careful to gage your needs adequately.  I recently got rid of my TV for a projector myself.  And it's a sweet set-up and great for watching movies, etc.  However, it can also be a bit of a pain:

    - If I want to watch/play something casually.  The thing takes about a minute to warm up, and I know every time I turn it on/off, it going to use the lamp life.  I sometimes find it hard to justify warming the thing up just to play Gamecube for just 20 mins.

    - If I want to watch anything in the early afternoon.  That's when the sun is shining the brightest through my window.  I'm on the lowest level, which is partly submerged below the ground, so there's isn't light pouring into my room all day long, but it's something to take into account.  My projector is almost useless from 1pm - 4pm, even with the blinds closed.

Personally, I'm interested in getting a smaller, portable TV for the real casual viewing/playing.

But technically, no, you don't need a TV.  :)

All the best with your desicion making!

  2. I have a projector instead of a TV.

    I run DVD player/computer/games console/sky/digi box etc.

through it on to the wall. It's magnificent. The sound goes  through my stereo.

Tip......only use high quality cables to connect to devices.

  3. No you don't need a tv

  4. i doubt it so long as your scart leads fit into the projector your sorted

    sounds cool

  5. The best projector to buy  is the one which uses the technology of DLP projection which is nere HD quality, don't be put off with people saying about the bulbs being to expensive, they will last for years, depends on if you have it running 24 hours a day - 7 days a week, i work for a audio visual company and we sell these projectors and projector screens. Projectors do not come with scart connections but do have the video and audio out connections - s-video and of course the VGA connection so you can connect a computer/laptop.....you can use it like a tv if needed but you will need a freeview box.

  6. no . you need a grey screen. they can be made to the size you want. my center and front speakers are behind my screen. i use a preferated screen. you can also sand a wall flat, paint it light grey, and put trim around it if you want out cheap.

  7. no mate the red yellow and white leads should just go straight into the projector.

  8. depends if the projecter has a built in tv tuner - if not, you could run a digibox thru it instead

  9. Yes!

The bulbs are to expensive to waste on the likes of Eastenders.
