File transfer is completely dependent on the connections the computer has. The fastest authorized for consumer use at the moment, is Firewire 800, although I have had much success with Firewire 400, which is fast enough for most consumer years.

USB 3 and the Firewire 1200 and 1600 variations should be out within the next couple years.

Your question is not clear.  Do you mean transferring in the Internet or LAN or transfer to an external device?

1.  If Interenet there are severl FTP client programs you can download free. example filezilla or smartftp. search in google and download

Actually, file transfer is not completely dependent on the connections. It is also dependent on the RAM size, processor speed, and Hard disk drive read and write speed. While the RAM size and processor speed often are large enough to handle most files, the hard disk write speed and connections are both commonly the bottlenecks of file transfers.

As for which computer to buy for those, you'd need to find one with a hard disk drive that has a fast reading and writing speed, and a firewire port. If you're buying a new computer, the processor and RAM size should already be adequate.
