If i want to get a blackberry curve through verizon, do i have to pay that extra 30-40 bucks?

i heard that blackberrys have an extra internet charge and it's like 35-45 dollars.

do i have to pay that or can i just cancel the internet..

or is it not worth getting a blackberry curve without the internet?
