  1. The main thing a RB should have is speed. Lots of speed. You need to pass people up and be explosive. Distance running is mainly for endurance and thats good too but speed is key.

  2. Distance running is ok because you can build up your endurance. Which you will need in the 4th quarter and what not.

But as the previous poster has said .. work on your speed off the line. And work on your strength.

  3. I play running back for my highschool team right now...

you dont need long distance running.. that wont help

Yu need to do sprints and work on speed always try to get faster...

Here is ome things that can help..

Workout... Do lifts like squats, Cleans, and dead lifts...

But do these lifts fast or else you will just gain muscle and probally get slower...

Always do sprints everyday.. Try running up a hill and walking down and do that about 5 times a day...

Guess who did that, the great running back Walter Peyton..

I hope this helps Good lUck..

  4. yeah dude, I don't think your gonna want to do much distance running. Probably lifting and doing a lot of speed to get your 40 down would be more beneficial.

  5. no not at all.  distance running is ok for a warm up but you really need to improve speed.  doin sprints anywhere from 20 yrds to 200 yrds is a great work out.  also foot speed is very important.  lots of jump rope and ladder drills and cone drills.  and dont forget that flexibility will help build speed
