  1. Check your state's Homeschool regulations... these two sites will help in that:

    NHEN (National Home Education Network)

    http://www.nhen.org/leginfo/state_list.a...

HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association)

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

  2. Neither - in Oklahoma, homeschooling is constitutionally protected.  You don't have to notify the state, be evaluated, or take annual testing (though testing is provided in many areas each year).

All you do is have your parents withdraw you from school in writing (so truancy officers don't show up at your doorstep) and you start homeschooling.  You can get curriculum on the internet, at Mardel, and at various stores (if you're in Tulsa, Bibliomania is a good place to check out); there are also a ton of great resources at the library.

I would also say to get involved in a homeschool group - there are literally thousands of homeschooled kids in OK and tons of stuff to get involved in.  Hope that helps!

  3. Your parent will have to withdraw you formally from your current school.  That will be by signing a form at the school.  When I withdrew my student from public school, I asked for a copy of every single paper and record in the cumulative (permanent) file, at the same time.
