If i wanted to contact my friends n newzealand say their mobile would i have to put in other numbers?

I have a friend that lives in Newzealand and i live ion Australia i want to contact her bye mobile

would i have to put in any other numbers before i put in her mobile number because apparently you do?

if so..

what numbers?

Yes, when calling another country, you have to put in additional numbers.  Each country has a "country code" and a "city code"; these must be entered first, then the person's local number.  Call customer service of your carrier, and they'll be able to give you the country code and the city code, along with any other specific requirement, [like dialing "1" or "0" first].
