  1. maby everything can look like a ball room and someone can serve sushi. you can make it like a japanessse ballroom

  2. I know it's Thai (used to be called Siam) but I think some of the elegance in "The King and I" might be a great place to start for some inspiration.  Hanging lanterns, faux windows with ceiling to floor drapes, a light snack buffet with sushi (I'd do all veggie/cooked rolls), green tea punch and fresh fruit kabobs spiked into 2-3 canteloupe halves. If I were you, I would pick a pale color such as lemon yellow or cream as my base color, and accent with fiery hot pink or turquoise.

Sounds like fun!  I hope it turns out well.

  3. If you aren't looking at it as your own problem its easier to think,

maybe for decoration you could have hangy drapes that are silk looking with an asian edge to it.

maybe fancily tasseled would do nice,

for cake you could have the cake full out japanese themed, who ever heard of a ballroom cake anyway? XD

the tables could have the same silkish look as the drapes and you could put nice exotic flowers as center pieces.

a roomy area would do very nice to compliment your theme.

im not sure if thats best or anything but i think it would look nice [:
