  1. Yes most of the airlines  give a refund from medical emergencies, family death, or jury duty you just need proof like a doctors note, they dont always give refunds but it doesn't hurt to ask even multiple times, and it isn't always a refund sometimes you'll have to settle for credit or a voucher.

  2. only if you bought insurance on tix

  3. You'd probably have to deal with your airline.

    And your insurance provider.

    Hope you get better soon.

  4. I think so ...my mom had to cancel her flight when my sister was critically injured,, the doc had to write a note...and the company got a refund/credit on the flight

  5. It depends what kind of ticket you have, but it is very unlikely.

I hope you took out travel insurance.

  6. Probably not.

The only way you can get a refund is if you bought insurance that included cancellation. Those policies are about 3x the price (in the UK- which is where you've posted your question from) so I'd guess that most likely, if you do have insurance, it isn't covered.

Medical bills are only included if they're abroad (without the NHS, for example)

I got back from Greece yesterday... it's very nice, but very hot. That probably doesn't help.

No chance you can sweet talk your way out of hospital?

  7. Call the airplane company immediately to find out your options.

  8. from insurance not the airline

  9. Im sure your insurance covers you for medical stuff.  Look at your insurance policy

  10. Don't believe so.

IG:  My sister and I last week tried to get our flights changed.  We were in KY and needed to get home and told them that we had an emergency.  They said we'd have to pay $150 to cancel our original tickets and then pay whatever the difference was for the new tickets.  So we were stuck in KY until Thursday.

  11. You will need to contact the airline and let them know you have an emergency. I believe with paperwork, you may be entitled to the refund. Good luck and feel better soon.

  12. Honestly, it depends on the airline you purchased from, and the class of ticket.

You MUST contact your airline prior to flight departure time.  Once the plane has left the gate without you on it, your ticket has no value.

If your ticket was purchased in a refundable fare class, yes, you can get a refund.  This is not likely unless you paid BIG bucks.

If your ticket is nonrefundable, it is unlikely you will get a refund, however, explaining your situation may result in some consideration.  The most common I have seen is a voucher for credit to be used for a future flight, or the offer to re-book the ticket for a later date at the cost of a small change fee.    You may need the hospital to provide documentation.

If you have travel insurance with a medical cancellation rider, that would be your best bet.
