  1. RAGDOLL!

They are the most amazing cats in the world... and unlike most long haired cats they don't matte.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.  I have had many cats and since getting 2 ragdolls I will never buy another breed!

  2. one that does not come into my garden

  3. Why not go into a library or bookshop and browse through one of the many cat books on the shelves?  The books usually go into the characteristics of each breed which might help with your selection.

The breeds vary so much in temperament - for example an Abyssinian, in common with most of the Foreign breeds, is very lively and intelligent and you can almost expect it to give you a lot of grief!

The long-haired ones are more placid as a rule.  They need a lot of care to keep their coats in good order.  Silvers are beautiful.

  4. Do you have kids? Will it be an indoor or outdoor cat? Do you have other animals? How much grooming are you prepared to do? How much money do you have to spend? Can you handle a vocal cat? How much cat hair everywhere are you willing to put up with? Are you an experienced cat owner? Do you want a lap cat or a more independent breed?

Like dog breeds all cat breeds are very different. Not all cats are suitable for all households. Some breeds just don't mix with other pets and children. Also prices can range from a couple of hundred to around £1,000+. If I was you I'd start reading either CatWorld or Your Cat magazines, it does breed profiles and has a breeders directory. You can get these magazines at WHSmiths or Boarders and they are full of great up to date information. Also a good cat breeds book will be invaluable. Here's a starting point for you though so you can start to find the breeds you like the look of http://www.petplanet.co.uk/cat_breed.asp

Don't forget the humble moggie also. Best of luck x x x

  5. I think ragdoll kittens are really cute when their young and old. There also really soft and furry.  Pricy though, so I'm not sure if thats what your looking for.

  6. Bengal kittens, theyre absolutely adorable.

  7. Persian. The siamese look really cute but they have terrible personality traits. long haired Persians look very elegant and they're also cool!

  8. Here how about these breeds:

    A Persian - http://www.ferretocious.com/cats/chanan/...

    An Exotic Shorthair - http://www.ferretocious.com/penelope/pen...

(currently the #3 Household Pet in the Northwest and #9 in the World)

All of these cats were adopted as adults from animal shelters.

Why must you have a "pedigree"?  That's only required if you want to be able to show the cat under its breed.  And if the cat isn't show quality then the pedigree isn't really worth it because you won't do well in shows.

If you just like the look of a particular breed of cat then go to a shelter and find one - there's THOUSANDS looking for homes.  Or get a cat of no particular breed - why does it really matter?  And adopt an adult cat instead of a kitten.  You can never tell exactly what a kitten will look like when it grows up or what it's personality will be like while with adult cats it's right there before you.  These three adult cats are far more bonded to me than any kitten I've had.
