  1. You have to break the two vectors into their x and y components and then add them together.

    X component = 5 * cos (60°) + 3 * cos (-20°) = 5.32

    Y component  = 5 * sin (60°) + 3 * sin (-20°) = 3.30

    So expressed as a rectangular form complex number

    5.32 + i 3.30

    Polar form would be

    6.26 &lt; 31.8°
