You can get all BBC stuff on iPlayer, you got ITV and Channel 4 and 5 on demand on their website(s). Do I need a TV licence if I (in theory) chucked my telly out and watched it all online?

  1. good question

  2. You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV.

If you use a digital box with a hi-fi system or another device that can only be used to produce sounds and can't display TV programmes, and you don't install or use any other TV receiving equipment, you don't need a TV Licence.

    That should answer your question.

  3. It doesn't matter whether you use a computer, a television set, or any other equipment (such as a mobile telephone). The point is, if you watch or record live TV broadcasts, then you need a TV licence.

If (in practice) you don't watch or record live TV broadcasts, then you don't need a TV licence.

  4. Yes you do, see the link.
