If i were to get a clown fish (the ocellarius one sp?) do i have to get an anenome?

well how do i make sure it doesnt kill the polyps that i get ?

Yes since they would hide in it if they were going to be eaten and they also mate in it.

if you WERE to get one.. put the anenome in before the polyps and let it find it's spot in the tank (they usually wander around untill they find a spot they like) then add the polyps agood distance away from the nem (6''+)

No you do not need to get an anemone to have a healthy clown fish.
