put one i have one and its a cool fish likes to hide alot but when it comes out it very nice to watch

  2. Big and 10 gallon do not fit in the same sentence. Big fish need more space than a 10 gallon provides.

The biggest single thing you could keep happily in a 10 gallon for it's entire life is a single African Butterfly Fish at around 4", they're fairly inactive and will mainly hang at the surface. They will eat any tankmate that fits in their (very large) mouth, so therefore, in a 10 gallon, it would be the butterfly fish alone.

I've seen the other answers and some terrible suggestions. Angelfish need 30 US gallons minimum, they get far too large for a 10 gallon, as do pictus catfish, rainbow sharks and red tailed black sharks. This also goes for goldfish (needs 20 gallons minimum), oscars and flowerhorns (needs 70-90 gallons minimum), african cichlids (most need 55 gallons minimum), anything named "eel" generally needs over 70 gallons or more, and the blood parrot cichlid needs at least 60 gallons.

  3. Don't Put one BIG FISH in a 10g.

The one inch per gallon rule doesn't work on big fish.

  4. try an angel fish, a pictus catfish, or a red tailed/rainbow shark. I have had experience with all of these fish in my 10 gallon aquarium with great results

  5. An eel, goldfish, angelfish, FLOWERHORN CICHLID, oscar cichlid, parrot cichlid, african cichlid,
