  1. Yep

  2. Civilian employees of the Corps of Engineers get asked to volunteer, from time to time, to do temporary work assignments.  My daughter is a civilian employee with the Corps and she spent 5 months in New Orleans after Katrina on temporary assignment.  She's known a few people who went to Iraq for 6 months.

  3. US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS IS A BRANCH OF THE ARMY. HE IS AN ENLISTED SOLDIER IF HE SIGNS AND MORE THAN LIKELY AND I AM SORRY TO SAY HE WILL BE DEPLOYED... I AM 11B INFANTRY AND MY TIME IN THE SAND PIT I SAW ALOT OF THOSE GUYS. IF HE GOES THAT ROUTE JUST MAKE SURE TO TELL HIM TO NOT EXCEPT "COMBAT ENGINEER"  just if you are worried about his safety becuase those are the guys building things while the bullets are wizzing past their heads... they blow alot of stuff up though... its pretty cool.. my Fiance's dad is a combat engineer and only been to Iraq once but he wants to go back becuase of the money... I served 2 tours and all i did my first tour was patrols and security... rarely shot anybody or was shot at... Im currently thinking of re-enlisting just through a warrant officer program to be a pilot... any helicopter will do just as long as Im safer than my last tour... Lost a good friend just three feet away.... but back to your question if there is a national emergency YES he will get sent over there if he is NATIONAL GUARD..... if he is Active Duty it depends if hes in the same state..... If he is active duty more than likely he will be in another country or Texas... The corps of engineers is a great branch of the army... and yes the army has diffrent branches inside of it to determine what class of work you do.. I am in the COMBAT BRANCH.. TRYING TO RE-ENLIST IN THE AVIATION BRANCH... it goes like that and so forth.... your BF is going into the Engineering branch... theres alot of diffrent engineering jobs in that branch.... just make sure he chooses the right one... he can do construction, combat engineering, bridge work... and so forth.... those water bridges the engineers build are by far cool... but yes if he likes to blow things up, shoot people and still do good with his hands and build stuff maybe combat engineering is for him....

    check it out...

  4. YES you can!!! it's either in Iraq, Afghanistan or stateside deployment but chances of happening is slim to none
