  1. Your chances of getting chosen for a jury depend on a lot of different factors:  how many cases are being heard that day, how many jurors they need -- and if you are pulled into a jury pool, what kind of trial it is, and what kind of jurors the attorneys are seeking.

So for example, if the trial involved someone who was robbed while working a graveyard shift, it's quite possible that the D.A. WOULD want someone like you on the jury, while the defense would NOT.  It is certainly okay to bring up your concerns to the Clerk of the Court or on the jury questionnaire.

Then again, you might not be called onto a jury pool at all.  It is important that you show up, and it's good that you are doing so.

As inconvenient as it can be, remember that the whole system depends on each person having the right to a trial with a jury of his or her peers -- people from all walks of life, who will listen and try to do the right thing.  Weird as it sounds, it's an honor.  It's a huge responsibility sometimes, deciding whether someone committed a crime.   Hopefully your employer could try to switch you out to day hours for a bit.  I'm not sure, but I think it's against the law for an employer to fire you while you're on jury duty.

Maybe you can ask another question!

Good for you, and good luck!

  2. I'd say in your particular case, they may need to call the WHHHAAAAAAAAAmbulance  !!

  3. Depends on what type of jury duty.  You might not be working at all.  But they pay you a generous $5 a day.

There are very easy ways to get out of jury duty.  Look around and you will find them.

  4. It depends which state you were call for. Is it for county or federal jury duty. Write them a letter explaining how it will be difficult it is for you to do jury duty. its a pain in the a*s, but it must be done. Criminal are not going to jail on their own

PS, they don't pay you unless they assign you to a case, and the trail last more than 3 days.

  5. in Texas it does not matter what shift you work. they will not allow you to work if pocked for duty.  they pay you like 14.00$ a day.

  6. just as good as any other registered voter

  7. th esame chance
