  1. If you are Mexican you need your Mexico passport and your visa to get into the US.  If you are American you need your birth certificate and a valid ID to get back into the country.  You don't need a US passport at this time to walk the border.  I was there 2 weeks ago- it is posted on the running signboard.

  2. American and Canadian citizens do not need passports to travel to Mexico by LAND at this time.  This regulation does NOT apply to nationals of OTHER countries.  But, then, if you are from another country, you would have had to have a passport to enter the  U.S....so you must have one.  Americans and Canadians do not need visas.  If you are of a different nationality, see site below and enter your nationality and destination and click for the info and it will tell you if you need a visa.

  3. Yes, whenever entering or leaving the US, a passport is needed, regardless of the country of citizenship.  In regard to a visa, this depends on which country you live in.  So, you will definitely need a passport when crossing the Mexican border.

  4. yes, you are entering another country so of course you need a passport

  5. Yes. Passports are required now for travel between US and Mexico, even for US citizens.
