If im 17 will they let me visit my boyfriend (hes 20) in jail in iowa?

You are a minor, your boyfriend who is an adult has committed statuary rape against you, committed a crime that is serious enough for courts to feel he is a serious enough threat to others to put him on probation.  He then has an opportunity to prove his crime is not a sound representation of who he is and all he has to do in the state of Iowa is live a clean life an be a responsible citizen-nothing more.  And he still finds a way to violate his probation.  A hearing is held and they give him 15 days (1/2) a full month.  And when he gets out, he will most probably be on the same probation again, but with more dire consequences.  And you want to see this budding hardened criminal.

In order to be a criminal in the state of Iowa, you really have to try very hard.  Law Enforcement doesn't just pick anyone up and arrest them.  The state has a reputation of being extremely lenient and bends over backward before even arresting and even when they do, their sentences are very light.

Yet some how, this guy you are stuck on keeps having this bad luck-strange.  You want o be supporting, a good girlfriend and feel sorry he has no friends.  His family...But you are there.

You do understand 95% of citizens in this country never see the inside of a jail cell or go to court.  You boyfriend has joined a very select group.  In addition to that, it's statistically proven that the majority of people who break probation end up going back to jail and committing for serious crimes and are destined for greater financial set backs and health problems.  

You are only 17 years old.  I guess the first question is this:  Is this guy your first boyfriend or what?

I don't mean to be disrespectful and think there is an excellent chance you will hate me for writing this, but I have seen a lot of people like you.  There are sometimes small differences between having a good life and one that is always scratching.  The difference is sometimes based on the simplest decisions we made.  In most cases making simple decisions to the type of people and removing one people who involves himself with negativity and dips into the dark side is enough.

If you want to visit this guy in the slammer, you will need to be with an adult/guardian and the visit may need to be supervised.  Rather than trying to work with boyfriends in jail, maybe getting an education and enjoying a higher class of person would enrich your left and remove so many complications that always come with criminal behavior-Sorry, I had to say it.  Every once in a while someone listens, they thank me.  That really make me feel great.  If not, at least I tried.  Either way, if you choose to stay with him, 30 years from now, if you are still alive, you will remember my efforts to help you.

Running back and forth to jails to visit him, paying huge phone bills from his calling collect, sending him money to get things on commissary, writing letters and do not forget to write cause he will cal land get nasty about it

Take this time to find a REAL man one with a job who ain't;t out there doing dumb stuff.

Heck you are 17 He has NO business even asking you to come top the jail

you would need a parent or guardian to go with you. you should date a person in jail. he was on probation and now in jail. you don't deserve a person who's just going to bring you down in life. you are 17. finish up school, go to college, get a good career, and enjoy your life. just be careful.
