Question:

If im a US Citizen and i marry a canadian and she has a baby in the US will my wife be able to live in US?

i already know the baby will be a U.S. citizen and can have dual citizenship, but i want to know if my wife would be able to live in U.S. or be given citizenship.

  1. Wow a lot of bad answers here.

    Your wife has to apply to be a resident, she is not guaranteed citizenship.  

    If she has ever overstayed on visa's or been convicted of a crime which is "moral tupitude" then I doubt she would be able to be a US citizen.


  2. The process might be made a bit easier, but just because she gives birth to a child in the US does not mean she will automatically be granted citizenship. She will still have to jump through all the bureaucratic hoops government agencies spend too much time thinking up.

  3. Of course.  She is married to an American and so she can apply without difficulty for American citizenship.  She won't have to give up her Canadian citizenship.
