i've ridden and owned dirtbikes as well as ridden and stunted on quads, i ride mountain bikes as well as bmx, and my hobbies are pretty much every other extreme sport that exists, although i have very little sportbike experience, i've ridden a friends ninja 750 with mods and had no problem controling and respecting the power, contrary to common belief, i truly believe i can manage to stay easy on the throttle until i get comfortable on the bike, just lookin for some feedback

  1. I've owned both an R6 and an R1.

Believe it or not the R6 is more fun to ride especially on a track because you can twist it wide open more often and it is just plain less work to maneuver. Riding a 1000cc you have to be a lot more careful, mine has gotten away from me more than once and it was plain scary!

I am recommending that you move to a 600cc bike first. It will enhance your riding experience and give you an opportunity to learn at a slower and better pace. Then try a 1000cc bike you might find that you don't enjoy it as much.

    Good luck...

  2. Not stupid, just expensive for the bike and insurance. Go to a dealer that has lots of different makes. Try some on.

  3. It is not the cc's.

The type of bike is more important... touring, performance, etc.

A touring bike you would want more cc's to make the bike comfortably for long trips.

As to "crotch rockets"... even a 750 can be quite a lot to handle.

Depends on your wants and skill.

    Good luck

  4. You may have the physical skills required, the motor skillls, balance, spatial relationship, a great feel, a natural rider. But, what you have to take into account is the traffic, the other guy, the obstacles, all the road dangers. I would start on something smaller, lighter, something that handles and stops really good, get some miles under your belt; see what's it's like riding in traffic, then move move up to a 1000cc sport bike. Some of these 1000 cc and up sport bikes can go from 0 to 100 in 5-6 seconds with a really good rider, do you think your ready to find yourself there?

  5. 1000cc what ripe? if 1000cc type touring i thing that not stupid, but if 1000cc type racing i hope u can control the bike, not the bike control u ^_^
