If im an ohio resident and i travel to georgia to buy a car do i have to visit georgias DDS (BMV)?

or do i just buy the car at the dealership and drive it back to the bmv in ohio?

  1. Idk about Georgia, but in Indiana or Michigan or Kentucky, you buy the vehicle, get it home and take the title to your local BMV to transfer the registration and pay the sales tax if you didn't pay it where you bought it in the other states.


  2. yes, you need what is called an in transit permit to get the car back, then you register it and pay sales tax in ohio, not in georgia.
