  1. you apply for financial aid the JANuary before you need it. EXAMPLE. my FAFSA for this upcoming fall was completed in January.

So if you want spring 09 fin. aid you should have filled out a FAFSA in january. your HS guidance counselor should be helping you through the process. look on fastweb.com too for scholarships.

if you graduate in spring 09 from HS and you need Fin Aid for FALL 2010...then you apply for your FAFSA after christmas- in JAN. make sure you do it before the middle of feb so you'll be eligable for state grants.

  2. u can start the financial aid as soon as Spring of 2009. the sooner u do it the faster it'll process.

just make sure u have the schools u plan to go to so that you can send the form to each of them

    hope this helped.

  3. I encourage you and your parents to start with the FAFSA4caster.

    http://www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov/

This will help you and your parents get an idea of the 'real' FAFSA process.

When you complete the 4caster make sure to print a copy of the summary and confirmation pages for your records.

Since no pin numbers or school codes are used on this form, you have no way to access it again once you complete it.

Depending on the college you decide to go to or apply to, it is very helpful to those schools to have the 4caster for planning purposes.

Starting in January 2009, you will want to complete your FAFSA as soon as your parents complete their 2008 federal income tax return.

Both  you and your parents need to apply for a PIN number.

    www.pin.ed.gov

    Good luck to you.

  4. when u feel it's time to do that.
