If im going to the doctors to get normal bloodwork done, will they test me for marijuana?

im going to the doctors to get my blood tested for thyroid and things like that. pretty much just precautionary things. But will they also test my blood for marijuana without me knowing?

  3. You wont be tested for anything without your permission. Usually a urine test for drugs like pot.

    Mind you if you are being tested for thyroid function then symptoms of this can be mimiked by pot.

  4. No- they are looking for disease states, and forget to look for self-induced disease states, like substance abuse.

  5. When the doctor says he or she is going to do "normal" blood work, they are looking at your kidney function, liver function, red blood cells, white blood cells, blood sugar and general things of that nature.  I don't know of any doctor that checks for illegal substances in a normal screening.  In reality you should let your doctor know if you are using marijuana as it can help him or her treat any conditions you may have more effectively.  Doctors will not report you to the authorities because of the doctor patient privelage.
