is he just a pretender who trains once or twice a week or some one who has his heart in it .the 1st 2 answerers were generous with the time estimate when it comes to any opponent in any art who has his heart in it.

a mauy thai fighter would distroy you  but it also depends on how long they have been training and if thay have any skill or talent.

why do you want to fight him anyway? ..your only chance would be to get him on the ground. unless he sucks, and you're just that good. define muay thai fighter too...is he a professional? or just someone who's taken a few classes? or just someone running his mouth?

either way, if you want an honest opinion. most arts are about self defense, not FIGHTING (there is a huge difference). unless it's in a sporting venue. and rather than trash talk each other, you could both be doing something constructive, like training.

look you need to learn the judo chop.. it is the best move out there.  if you do the judo chop on him he will get knocked out immediately, muay thai has no defense against it.

In a hand to hand fight the more experienced fighter has the greatest chance of winning.

First off, I would like to say your chances are not good.If you are like most street fighter they are good at acting tough and good at fighting people who have little experience fighting. I am currently taking Muay Tai and I will tell you this. Unless you train to fight daily and know some type of martial art  training there will be no chance you will win this fight. Muay Tai fighters train daily. They are in great shape. Most of the moves are deadly. I have fought people who claimed to be "Street fighters" But in about 30 seconds they were on the floor, bleeding. So, DO NOT fight the muay tai fighter unless you have no choice.

What is the size difference? How long has he been training?  Is he a pro fighter or does he just train recreationally?  Fact is anyone can catch anyone, and if there is a significance size difference and the MT guy is not a very good MT fighter you could knock him out.  With that said, even so the odds are not in your favor.  The biggest problem you will have would be actually connecting with a punch, and while your trying to swing at him he will most likely be turning your legs into ground beef with kicks followed by a clinch if you get too close and then knees to your head.  MT practioners train harder than any other traditional ma, and chances are whatever you can throw at them, they see on a regular basis x10.  So unless you've got a 100 lb weight advantage and a rock hard chin, don't bother.
