I am starting extra work in film and TV but my dream is to be a movie star. Will I eventually be able to get speaking roles and main roles after being an extra. Is it easy for extras to be lucky?

  1. join an acting group and practice, good luck :-)

  2. i'm not quite sure of this but,

If you get your self known around the area by director's and actors and do a great job on set and being in movies and stuff is what you are good at and really want i bet it could happen!!

    Good Luck!! :]

  3. Being an extra in a movie does not offer any direct career advancement although it can help you become a better actor.

When you list that you were/are an extra on a resume it does not mean much to casting directors considering hiring you.

Being an extra allows you to see how a production set works, what the main actors do, how the director works, etc. This can prove to be invaluable experience and allow YOU to become a better actor.

Just remember that being an extra is not a pathway to sucess, it can be on the road to becoming a better actor, but as a standalong effort does not do much.

It is better to learn the ins and outs or set organization as an extra through as an extra.

Being an extra might also help you attain SAG membership, which is eventually very important for an aspiring actor.

  4. Dont. you have to start at the right track. Even the smallest speech, but an ACTOR. No one ensures you success (only scammers!). And even more, you have to define “success”. First, make yourself clear if you want either a JOB or an artistic activity that will make you happy. If you want to be "famous" to make money, you should differentiate that being notorious is not necessary being talented, or, even worse, it will make you compromise many ethical things that you might not like to do or act in plays that you dont really like. The commercial circuit not always cross roads with the pure artistic lane, so you have to be focused in what you deeply wish. Be professional. Fame is something that can or cannot be there, but at least you will do what nurture you. Best of luck

  5. STARt small but make a big impact!  There is a new nationwide service that allows anyone to STAR in their own TV commercial. make a video of yourself and for up to 54 seconds you can show the entire city how much talent you have.  For a reasonable price, they will place you on any channel you request, at any time and in any city.  You even get to determine how often your commercial shows. Their website is http://timeformetv.com

    Good luck

  6. Get known as reliable and a good worker who wants to move up, but don't try to steal the scene. Get known and liked by directors and crew and you might be remembered when you audition for bigger roles.

  7. Not really to be honest. Once you start off as an extra you'll always be branded as an extra.

  8. if your lucky you'll get married
