  1. Doesn't matter if you're on their health insurance or if they claim you.

If you are younger than 24, not working beyond a Bachelors, not married, have no children, parent still alive, not an orphan or ward of the court, or currently serving or veteran of armed forces you are required to put parent information.

If you have no way of contacting your parents you can contact the Financial Aid Advisor at the University and explain the situation.  If deemed necessary they can do a dependency over ride on the FAFSA.  Very rarely do they do it, so start thinking of some excellent excuses.  Dependency over rides are completely determined by the school.  FSAIC and other DOE offices cannot force a school to do a dependency over ride.

  2. Ward of the court means were you in foster care or in the "system" somehow before you were 18?  This means that you were not living with your parents.  Parents deceased means are your parents dead?

Another possible question might be " are you emancipated?"  That means were you living on your own, without parent support?

If you have questions about filling out the form "you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) or contact your financial aid administrator (FAA). You can also go to the U.S. Federal Student Aid's Student Aid on the Web site at www.studentaid.ed.gov. "

  3. were you in foster care or are your parents deceased.

if you're not in contact with your parents, it really depends. if you are still on their health insurance, you are still a dependent and you have to get in contact with them to do your fafsa. if you aren't being claimed as a dependent anymore and you don't have their health insurance then you file by yourself.
