  1. ASAP

  2. I would ask them.  It's going to vary from country to country, and within the US, state to state.

  3. I would suggest waiting until after the first trimester. I have been pregnant 5 times. I delivered 3 healthy children. But the first miscarriage I had I was with twins and showed quite early so I had to tell them at about 6 weeks. Then I miscarried at 11 weeks and boy was that hard. After the mourning that I did for about a week, I then had to go to work and face all the other pregnant ladies, there were 3 at the time, (including my boss), it was very uncomfortable for them, and the people who were very kind and supportive but it was like reliving the loss for another week as folks expressed their condolences. In addition to that two weeks ago I began another miscarriage, I have been out of work for a week now but I was only 9 weeks and no one at work knew I was expecting again so it will be a bit easier to go back to work this time and not have to face the music.

Besides the reasons above, if you tell them too soon, it becomes like a pregnancy to them as well. If they know too soon it will seem like it is dragging on. At the suggestion of my doctors and as a manager of a large company myself I think that 3 months is a perfect and respectable time frame. But again it is up to you.

  4. you have to tell them right away.  I don't know what will happen though!

  5. I think you don't have to tell them in the US at least until you are showing. But just make sure you tell your boss before you tell co-workers for etiquette reasons
