Well..to do that pakistan would have to p**s off a billion people...and if its a conventional war...then pakistan wouldn't survive more that 5-6 days(thats the amount of oil reserver they have). If it goes nuclear...well india would lose a few hundred thousand civilians,,,but Pakistan would be exterminated...or if india decides not to strike back..then it would become another IRAQ!  But most of all...if it happens Right Now...pakistan would actually be pissing off another billion people in the region apart from india.(so much for olympics)

Who would be on whose side...well lets see::

USA: wouldn't want a war, good relations with india, frustrated with  pakistan's double standards on terrorism: will support india.

China: would be pissed on whoever starts a war during olympics.(but would prefer to be quiet)

Russia: anyone's guess.

Britain: would support india if war is started by pakistan.(which has been the case for past 60 yrs)

France:would be on the quieter side.

Well...who else matters.!

It would certainly annoy China. I don't think China would like anyone to ruin their 15 minutes with the Olympics. I could be wrong but I don't think any major wars have commenced during the Olympics.

Anyway, to answer the question, I doubt it would go nuclear. Russia, China and the USA would do their best to stop that. If it were a conventional war I think India would win because Pakistan is a tinpot nation with one tenth of India's population (about 150 million vs a billion).

The world would not end. Those 2 countries are not important enough.
