  1. You're comparing apples and oranges.

  2. The Head hasn't exactly banned it, she's asking for the support of the parents. Considering all the fuss there is about education and getting the right schools it's almost an impossible situation for those trying to run one. If you want a successful school trust has to be put in the Head to run it and make rules, if parents or pupils don't want rules they can hardly complain if the system isn't working.

  3. Of course - these girls are *choosing* to be this colour, and an unnatural one at that.  Their reasons for doing it are cosmetic, and that has no place in a school

  4. Should we discriminate against those with rollers in their hair and read the daily mail rag?

  5. i agree that children of school age should not be wearing fake tan and as a parent i wouldnt allow my daughter to untill she was 16 (or maybe for a special occasion).

i wear fake tan as i am soo pale i get asked if im ill alot and i dont tan and refuse to go on sunbeds so fake tan is the safest option, im not orange im just slightly less pale  so i dont dissagree with fake tan totally just on children

they should be allowed to be children and not be trying to make themselves seem older

  6. no it should not be allowed because it is not their true colour

  7. The lunatics are once again running the asylum....... the fake tan is not going to affect learning and is not doing any harm.

Personally I think I would prefer fake tan to hours on a sun bed or in the sun unprotected or underprotected.

  8. No, looking like an Ompa Lompa is not what a school pupil should look like.

  9. I think it's ridiculous! When the professionals are warning against skin cancer, whats better?! I know which I would prefer for my daughter!

  10. is that the best this teacher can do?? pathetic.

its her job to make sure the kids are learning and passing Sat's and exams no whinging about what colour they are.

she should shut up and teach english maths etc.

thats a teachers job not pointless garbage like this

  11. How does being orange affect their learning ??

Sorry, I would be more worried about their education, the respect for authority and whether they were well behaved than a bit of St Tropez.

  12. I would agree with the principle in this, she is right to send letters out, there is no need for fake tan at school..

  13. yes it should be allowed (and encouraged - these people are making a fool of themselves, looking orange), because it is not their natural skin colour.

What should not be allowed (and seems to be illegal) is posotive discrimination, where black people, or women, are favoured over white men, even if they are not neccesserily better qualified. Personally, I'd be happier knowing the person was there because they were the best, not just because htey were fast-tracked for the colour of their skin or their gender.

But I'm all for banning orange-ness.

  14. I think all orange people should be banned from everywhere - it's not a good look!

  15. An outrage!

  16. If that is the worst thing they have to worry about their students doings......

They are teenagers...of course they are going to do stuff like fake tans.  So what?

Do what I would do if I were the parent of one of those young ladies....take LOTS of quality photos.  Ones that will be completely imberassing for life (at least once they outgrow the fake tan stage).

Otherwise, don't worry about it, for heavens sake!  Would parents prefer the girls are spending hours spreading fake tan on each other, and doing each others hair and nails...or experimenting with drugs for hours?

As a parent, I would much prefer the girls doing something just a step above little girl dress up, and experimenting with fake tans, hair styles, and such, than drugs, or obsessing about boys.  Not to mention having worked for a Dermatologist for 8 years, I completely agree that fake tans (no matter how bad they look) are ever so much better than laying out in the sun!

  17. Covering themselves in orange paint can't be healthy for them, skin needs to breath, blocking pours with chemicals could have a detrimental effect on them later in life.....

  18. Schools are allowed to have dress codes and grooming standards.  That "orange" color is not a natural skin color...so yeah, they're well within their rights to prohibit it.

Of course, why anyone would want to look like an Ommpa Loompa is beyond me lol

  19. Can't they focus their attention on teaching pupils to read and write rather than trying to make politically correct statements all the time.  What are the teachers going to do when pupils go on holiday and get a natural tan?  Beggars belief.  I am more concerned that some kids leaving school can't string a sentence together or write a simple letter. I don't give a damm if they have used some St Tropez for god's sake.

  20. yes of course the headteacher should be allowed to ban fake tans.
