  1. It would take a while to explain, but let's just say that visiting Disney World the day after 9/11 was NOT a good idea.  We did get kicked out the day before on 9/11, and given tickets to return.  Because we were short on time we decided to go on the next day for the kids.  Never again.  Sure the kids could ride all the rides, since the place was ghostly, empty, dreary.  The workers were acting like robots, making their best efforts not to think about what had happened only 24 hours ago.

The absolute worst part was the Magic Kingdom parade, which was right on time, just as predicted, just like nothing happened.  And this fact threw me into some weird Stephen King zone.  The faces pasted with make-up, the Disney characters dancing around and on the floats, singing "zipadedooda zipadeeday, wonderful feeling, wonderful day".  The girl playing Snow White... was giving this huge smile to the crowd, but her eyes looked absolutely terrified.  This mad zombie circus was so scary to me, I thought I'd be sick to my stomach.

I know "the show must go on", but it didn't have to be the very next day!  It was the saddest day and totally nerve racking.

PS and yes, thank you for letting me express.  I have a tough skin, but to this day, when I relive this moment, I still get very emotional.

  2. I can make it very short

I got very sick in Paris.....had to go to a doctor and hospital where hardly anyone spoke English and my French was very bad.  It was hard to find out what was wrong and why they were doing things to me.  The stress made things even worse - and, I am sure, made my illness even worse also!
