  1. Because Jesus came to fulfill the law, to tear down the Law System- to BE the one sacrifice, once for all.

Jesus wiped out the whole theocratic system,  No more "organized" religion of the Jews, with the priests, the temple.

I will destroy this temple and in three days, raise it up. That was himself he was referring to.

    No more "system".

Can you imagine if someone came right now and got rid of the "System" of the Roman Catholic Church- which really is the "reincarnation" of the Jewish legal religious system- the priests offering the daily sacrifice- the go-betweens for the "laity" and God.....

Jesus came to destroy all of that.  The Jews were looking for a warrior messiah, to free their land from Roman rule- to be an earthly king.

Jesus said "my kingdom is not of this world".

  2. The Jewish leaders of the time had bastardized the Jewish religion to the extent that it served their purposes, not God's.

Jesus came and pointed out their hypocrisy.  For this reason they had him killed.

God the Father demonstrated His power by overruling the Jewish leaders' decision.  He raised Jesus to life again.  It is the fact that Jesus lived, died, and lived again that demonstrates His power over death.  By believing in Him, we share in His power over death and in the promise of eternal life.  That is truly good news!

    .

  3. They did not like someone pointing out where they had shortcomings. And where they were deliberately neglecting the care of the common people who needed and wanted guidance.

Also, they were looking for a Messiah or Christ who would rid them of the Roman rulership then and now. When Jesus said his kingdom was no part of the world, they said they wanted nothing to do with him. They were looking for "fleshly" answers from a spiritual man.

They missed the point of his coming.

  4. For one, because he challenged the hierarchy of authority, and the authority objected.  For two, because several of his claims really ran counter to Jewish teaching.

  5. He was rejected because He wasn`t the messiah they thought they were supposed to receive. They were looking for a man who would rid them of Roman oppression. He threatened their establishment by pointing out their religious hypocrisy. And gained followers not through military might, but through love and forgiveness.

His blood be on us and our children..Was what the children of Israel said..Ironic, what they thought was a curse turned out to be their blessing...

  6. Because they misunderstood the coming of the lord and thought that the first time he came he would show up loudly roaring like a lion rather than gentle like a lamb, as he did. The second coming he will be loud as a lion.

  7. You are not taking the background into account. Jesus was preaching love and peace. Jewish leaders were at that point heavily working against Roman oppressors who have conquered Jerusalem. This kind of preaching was good for Rome and bad for the Jews.

Assuming, that is, that Jesus actually existed.

  8. Because he went too far. He took the scriptures too seriously, and went beyond what was acceptable to the "church people" of his day. This has ever been the fate of the truly independent thinkers, the awakened ones.
