  1. 10 -13 years old Im sorry it came to this but kids are having s*x earlier and earlier

  2. The only education I had was s*x ed at school.  But, I was mature enough to figure out it's better to wait.

If I have kids I'll teach them around 12 maybe a little sooner you know around the time their hormones kick in.    I'll teach everything they need to know.   why it's better to wait,  how some people confuse s*x and love.   Obviously I'll teach them about condoms but, not nothing else unless it can also protect against diseases.

  3. I personally believe that s*x education should begin at the same time as conventional education.  Not in an "everything-at-once" sort of way, but in a developing way.  In grade 3 my best friend was educating his friends about s*x.  There is no age that is too early to be open with your children.

A tactic that I've seen to be very effective is the "accident:" a box of condoms left out in the bathroom can quickly get a conversation started without all the awkwardness, or at least serve to get the questions going.

What age should they learn about birth control?  I learned at 12.  Ideally, 8.  Progressive education is the key, building on what they already know.  A lack of communication is one of the biggest problems facing families today.

  4. We didn't have these problems when kids just got married when they hit puberty.  I know it sounds nuts, but that's how it was done for literally thousands of years right up to about 1900 ad or so.  Maybe nature is just trumping our societal inventions like public school.

  5. Birth control is important, but

The need to learn about abstinence at that age.

I'm not saying to leave them ignorant, but a lot of responsibilty talk and "you're too young" needs to go along with Xs and Os

  6. I think they need to learn about sexuality before learning about birth control. They need to learn where babies come from, the differences between girls and boys, simple anatomy, and then let them in on the morality stuff.

I think kids should learn about their bodies as soon as they can read. Being taught by a parent how all of this stuff happens I believe is the best approach. As for birth control, that is up to the parent to teach as well. I wish more parents were open to do this for their kids.

If they are experimenting as early as age 12, they should be taught immediately about birth control and sexual feelings, and consequences. I still think though the more you say s*x is bad, the more likely kids are to experiment with it (like drinking, smoking and drugs).

  7. Unfortunately, yes...they are starting WAY too early nowadays.

My older kids are 12 and 10 and we had "the talk" with them a year or so ago. I didn't want to take any chances, especially after I found out that my 10 year old [a girl] had already kissed a boy at daycare!!! I was blown away!! Needless to say, that was a real eye opener and since then I've been a stay at home mom so I can more closely monitor what's going on in my children's lives. We talked to our 12yr old son too, although he really doesn't show an interest in girls yet... we didn't want to take any chances!!
